Can you believe it? Yes, it’s that time of year again: the Social Media Week Hamburg. Whether speakers flown in from abroad or natives appealing to an international audience, there are quite a few events in English. So to make it easier for people whose German is a bit flaky and who need a quick overview of the English-language events, here’s a listing. It’s up-to-date as of 8th February but is subject to change. Don’t forget to register for events via the SMW website and check there for definitive information.
But first, a shameless plug for my own event in which I’ll be talking about my blog why-hamburg.com:
Date and time: Fri, Feb 26 – 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Markthalle – Kunstraum, Klosterwall 11
Talking about what I’ve learned through my blog and discussing it with the audience.

The Social Media Week is rapidly approaching again, and this year I’ll be speaking about my blog called “Why Hamburg?“, which hopefully you’ve heard about before.
Social Media Week
The Social Media Week is a global event that takes place several times per year in many cities around the world. It all started in New York and has since spread across the globe, reaching Hamburg in 2013. This year it will take place from 22nd – 26th February. The vast majority of events are happening in the Markthalle and the Macromedia university.
Hamburg has held true to the original Social Media Week vision of a crowd-sourced, free conference for social media beginners and professionals. Anyone can submit an event and, so long as it’s in some way related to social media or digital stuff, you’ve got a good chance of getting a slot.
I was part of the organising team for a few years but this year I’m just speaking at my own event.
You can find out more about my event and register on the event page. While you’re there, take a look at all the other stuff going on. in the schedule.
I’ll be talking about what I’ve learned from doing the blog, and looking at the list of people who have signed up we’ll have a good audience discussion when I’m finished. So come along to the Markthalle at 3pm on Friday 26th February. See you there!
